My likes: EVERYTHING, especially the herps survey! I also like all the hands on activities we do and all.
ReplyDeleteMy dislikes: NOTHING!!!
IM GOING TO MISS THIS CLASS AND EVERYONE IN IT, 4th PERIOD WAS THE BEST!
I always laughed in this class and 4th period had the best classmates. Also Mr Dillman being the best he is, always kept me interested in the material we were learning. the herp survey was the most fun hands on activity i have done in a science class. i will miss it all and i have no negative opinions on this class. ( Mr Dillman be prepared because next year you will see me more often and won't be able to get rid of me) lol love ya!!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable experience would be when i had to do all the video taping. It has be strenuous but so much fun to see everyones faces through the lense and makes me laugh everytime. I liked how this class was very honest, if that makes sense. I feel as though even though we didnt want to know about how bad off we may be treating the earth we still did and that was refreshing and sad all at the same time. I do wish that some people should have to take a test however to be in an ap course because i feel as though some people hindered the class due to them not really wanting to be in an ap class. Although this is not your fault this is the only critisism i can give out because honestly i had an awesome time. Favorite class i've taken. Thank you for all your hard work and being the best teacher you can be ~*~
ReplyDeleteit may or may not be just me but i feel like this class is one of the most challenging classes at white oak. you definitely made it fun though. my favorite thing was all the labs especially the fun ones toward the end of the semester. A LOT of notes though ): but overall it was a good class
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable moments will be the free time we have during class, when you played guitar while we worked, the fashion show and the field trip. I can honestly say there was never a dull moment in this class! This class may be challenging, but it fun at the same time. Other APES classes complain about how it is not fun and its boring. I am so glad that you were selected to be my APES teacher. The only constructive crtisim i would have is that we went way fast, but that would be beyond you control due to the pre selected AP testing dates. Maybe you can expand the jokes to more days of the week? Or play your guitar more often?
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say that I really don't like HERP surveys. Maybe next year you could go a bit slower with the slideshows. I stopped taking notes because I couldn't keep up. :-(
ReplyDeleteMaybe a different arragement of the desks so everyone can see the projector (from where I sit, it's a constant battle {no one's fault] to see the projector) Nothing else :-)
My most memorable moments in AP Earth would have to be the recyclable items fashion show and the HERP survey filed trip. The fashion show taught us how to be more creative and how to incorporate everyones ideas at the sametime. The HERP survey field trip was awesome, being that everything was hands on and you learned so much all at one time. Only thing i probably dislike was how we had a quiz almost every two days in the beginning of the semester, but hey its an AP course right? :)

I remember the day we beasted the PxAxT=I thing and the day we did the owl pellet lab. Other than that, I'm happy I met some people I would've never talked to before, especially some of the seniors. Good luck to you guys.
ReplyDeleteMr. D, it may take up more time, but I think you should make the quizzes about 10 questions longer. It seems like we focus more on passing than actually remembering the stuff in the sections.
The fashion show was my favorite and i dislike that all the quizzes felt rushed but theres nothing that can really be done about that. Thanks for having me in your class :)

Some of my most memorable moments in APES were being able to learn as much as I did. I never would have considered any part of my daily life as a hazard to our environment. This class really helped me realize what is going on in our environment and how I can help. I don't really have any dislikes about your class, I honestly enjoyed everything that we have done.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Don't worry Mr. Dillman, I'll remember you when I'm famous :)
APES has probably been one of my more challenging classes. It has been the only class in high school thus far that I just barely missed an "A" in.. but it has been an enjoyable class. we have all had fun times together (most of them being after the AP test was over lol). Betweeb all of the group projects like the dress, I've had some pretty memorable moments. Your quizzes killed my, Mr. D, but I want to say thanks for all the laughs and putting up with me for a whole sememster! :)

I have personally always enjoyed your class tremendously, the atmosphere has always been very active and positive. I didn't go out much for the herp survey as I should have and I saw that after the field trip. For any future students taking your class, I would advise they do there best to take the online quiz as a review before every chapter quiz, I found it the most useful.

I think that just learning new stuff about the environment has been the most memorable experience. Now, I see my world in a different way and I want to become part of the solution, not the problem. I don't honestly have any criticism. I feel that the way you're teaching is on key. :) It truly has been fun being in AP Earth...I'll miss it!!!

My most memorable moments would have to be on the field trip we took, the fashion show, and all the horrible guy advice you gave me and Gio. On the fild trip i learned alot. The most important thing i learned is that nature is not for me at all! I shall never go in the woods again!! I thought the fashion show was fun and quite interesting. I liked the course overall and found out that my family does alot of things that probably isn't so good for the enviroment. But I enjoyed you as my teacher bye.
ReplyDelete:)
The most memorable moments about A.P Earth was having to make the recyclable dresses. It was alot of fun and it really did felt like we were doing a real fashion show. I liked when we went outside and we found the snake under one of the herp survey spots.I think everything was pretty great.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part was the field trip. I also liked doing all the labs. (when we got to pick our groups) I liked everything about the class except for the quizes.
ReplyDeleteJessica Corder 3rd
i liked the class. it was very interesting. i liked going out and doing the herp survey the most. i think if you do get the Stemie grant and buy a class set of computers it would make the class a little easier. other than that it was a great class to end the year with. ill see ya around Mr. D
ReplyDeleteDylan Hughes
This class was an interesting and fun experience. It was also difficult at times. We did some cool stuff like the HERP servey. I learned a good amount while in this class.
ReplyDeleteJustin Lamorie
I would say my most memorable time in APE was when we went outside as a class and did the herp survey because it was seriously so sick seeing that snake and watching people touch it!! I liked the thought of the days, even though they were lame sometimes! I disliked all of the quizes because they were hard!!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable moment in this class would have to be going out to do the herp survey during school. It felt good to get out and learn outside of the stuffy classroom. If i may suggest anything, i would suggest a better way to display quizzes. When they are displayed on the projector the middle row cant see anything because everyone's head gets in the way! thanks for a great semester!
ReplyDeleteThis semester in Mr Dillman's APES class was great! I don't think you should change anything it was a good class. Unless you would like to just do away with the quizes and six weeks tests. My favorite part of this class was definately the field trip to cool springs. I was one with nature and it was amazing. You're a great teacher Mr. Dillman and I hope you win the Stemie grant. Woohooo! GO APES!

i enjoyed this class alot. It was hard at first becuase you went through the power points so fast but i learned how ta take notes and study every night. I think this class was pretty good i enjoyed all the little assignments we did. My favoirte thing was the herp survery. It was fun tryin to cactch the lizzards and snakes.
ReplyDeleteThis class was a very active class and you made things very interesting and not just plain and boring. My most memorable moment was when we went outside as a class and did the herp survey and watching everyone touch the snakes, also a couple of us discovered some berries that were eatable along the sides. I like the though of the days even though some of them were lame. One thing I didnt like were the quizzes because they were hard alot of the times.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good class. The only thing I didn't like was giong through the chapters so fast. The field trip to cool springs was really fun and going outside to do the herp survey was a good hands-on learning experience. Bye Mr. Dillman!
ReplyDeletei really liked this class it was a fun class the only thing i didnt like was that i had to miss so many days, the most memorable moments would be the fieldtrips and the herp surveys and the group work
ReplyDeleteThe only flaws in this class I think are the excessive amount of projects and work, especially during the beginning of the semester. That's just me being lazy though. Hahah. Honestly this is one of the coolest classes I've ever had. I think it's awesome that we have thoughts of the day and corny joke fridays, I'm probably going to miss that the most. I also thought it was really cool that we learned outside of the classroom with the whole herpetological thing. I'd never done that before and I can only hope I can do something like that in college or something too. Thanks for the awesome semester!
ReplyDeletea.p.e.s was probably one of the best classes and most interesting classes ive taken, i love nature so learning more and more about it was great.my most memeorable experience in this class was probably our field trip. i loved that we actually got hands on and got to work with some of the animals naturally found in north carolina, this was an awsome class and it was an experience ill never forget, hunter
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this class, it was way more challenging than i thought it was going to be, but it was definitly my favorite, the labs, field trips, and the herps servey was awesome. i honestly cant give any constuctive critism except to start tell jokes everyday instead of fridays only! Im going to miss this class! But ill see u on exam day and all next year!

I <3 A.P.E.S.
My most memorable experience was Destiny picking up that snake on our HERPS survey. It was so cool to actually find one. The only thing I struggled with is taking quizzes every other day but I understand the time crunch. OH! and I also loveddd making the recyclable outfits. Def my forté. Toodles D-man!
ReplyDeleteSEEENNNNIOOORRRRRSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! <3
I would have to say the most memerable moment in APES Class would be the feild trip to Cool Springs. I got to handle and see so many different types of animamls in one day. With the class, I liked that you had us in groups alot, I put more brains together and found out things quicker. But with the notes and material that you taught us, I think you went too fast, and i know you try your best to keep the notes interesting at times but different approaches with the notes could help at times as well.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't remember too much from the other semesters but I really loved that field trip, the last one we took to Cool Springs. As for in class, I liked the thing like Toxins in Your Neighborhood, the deer population thing, the garbology lab, and anything else that applied what the you were saying to real-world situations. Anything that applied it to the real-world, from the case studies to labs, was nice. Not much to critize, I loved the class and I felt prepared for the AP test.
ReplyDeleteReflection on AP Environmental Science? I could go on and on…
ReplyDeleteThe first few weeks were kinda bad for me. I had never taken an AP class and wasn’t really ready for the fast pace but I got used to that before long. It also took me a while to get into a routine and figure out what worked for me as far as studying for quizzes, but that’s to be expected. Then we were smooth sailing for a while and class was good. Around spring break, however, when we were trying to cover two or more chapters a week and I was stressed out for the AP exam and trying to cram all this stuff into my head…that wasn’t fun at all, to say the least. In fact, no offense, but I really disliked you for doing that to us. Sorry, Mr. Dillman. For the most part it paid off after the AP exam but I recognized a few things we went over after the exam that I wished I had known before (urban sprawl). On a side note, for the review sessions, I would advise having your students not just read through the chapter(s) for the week and take the quiz at the end, but spend ten or fifteen minutes a day studying the chapter. I wish I had done that. All in all, I think I’ve really enjoyed this class. My favorite things were probably our field trip to Cool Springs and that lab we did waaaaay back when we were studying tectonic plates…the one with graham crackers and frosting. That was delicious and it helped me understand the different types of boundaries/land formations.
This class has been a blast and I have learned so much. I have many memorable moments like my first two quizes(I got a 60 on both. I was so scared I was going to fail the class I literally was freaking out. Another memeory I have is finishing that Ap test, both good and bad feelings there. I also enjoyed winning the prom dress contest. My likes for this class is that you keep it interesting just about everyday. We have lots of fun labs and got to go outside a lot. I am very thankful for any extra credit opportunities you gave us which I think you should continue. One thing I dont like is the fact that we have to go so fast but we cant change that. I also didnt like the powerpoints to much, mostly when they took up a good portion of the class. Other than that this class was awesome. I have learned so much and it even inspired me to do my senior project around the environment. Thank you Mr. Dillman for being an awesome teacher.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You should continue the jokes even though they werent the best. I always enjoyed hearing you say heres a good one and then it wasnt any better, that is what made them really funny.
More jokes Mr . Dillmans!!! This class had the most fun assignments and the best projects.
ReplyDeleteNothing was wrong with this class. Going to miss you mr.dillman
I really enjoyed the class as a whole, my only critique is that there werent enough lab reports next year you should assisgn more. You should also do away with all multiple choice tests, free response shows a better understanding of concepts.
ReplyDelete-Will Hitzhusen
I enjoyed the class, and most of all the herp surveys and the field trip. And the only thing was going through the chapters really fast.
ReplyDeletei hate snakes, so i didn't enjoy the herp survey at all. but i did like most of the labs, especially the graham cracker and frosting one! the field trip turned out to be better than i thought it would. i really hated those quizzes...
