Week 6: What's with this Weather?

Hey Scholars!

Weather is a funny thing..... always changing.
For this weeks post I want you to find a weather map from a different country post it and explain what the symbols mean and what kind of weather they are having. Then tell us what biome the country mostly fits into because of where it is located (latitude and longitude).

"I feel its gonna rain like this for days"

The clouds show where the rain and cloud cover are. The L and H are for high and low pressure systems. They're having some rainy weather.
Estonia is located at 59° 00'N and 26° 00'E. The biome it is in is the temperate deciduous forest.

Okay so apparently other countries do not have the traditional frontal maps that we have in America. I found various sites but I could not find a site that had fronts such as cold, hot and stationary fronts. Basically my map shows an easy to read view of Italy's weather. There literally is pictures depicting the type of weather that is taking place. In Italy for example in Celcius the temperature is in the mid-twenties. Thus, the weather is mild as that translates to the mid-seventies. The weather is also pretty nice except for rain that has taken over the far east of the country. The rain taking over the east shows that a front has swept past that part of the country.

Italy fits into the Chaparral(Mediterranean) Biome because it seems to have pretty mild, warm weahter so far for the fall. It also is basically in the same area as the far west of California which is part of the Chaparral Biome

  3. I choose Italy for this blog.

Symbols are self explanatory. It is pretty much sunny, with some exceptions of a little bit of cloudy weather

Italy is dominated by the Mediterrenean Vegetation with a little of temperate forest in the northern part of the country.

  4. I chose Greece. The map has suns on the various cities, and some of the suns have clouds, which says that their weather is gonna be completely sunny or mostly sunny. There are arrows and a number telling about the wind and what direction it's gonna blow in. The temperature is also on there but it's in celcius instead of fahrenheit like ours.

This country has a mediterranean/subtropical climate. It's winters are short, wet, and cold, and their summers are long, hot, and dry. Most of Greece is covered in mountains, which makes alot of it wet most of the time because of the windward sides of the mountains. The latitude/longitude itself is similar to the northeastern parts of the US.

Here's a weather map of Japan for Sep 30th. The symbols on the map show that it is going to be partly cloudy in most areas (the moon being partially covered by clouds) and will rain a bit in Tokyo (the rain cloud). Because of Japan's location which is approximately 20 degrees of latitude and approximately 23 degrees of longitude it has four major seasons like North America does.

The symbols on the weather map represent what kind of weather Australia is having at the moment. The cloud with the sun means its party clouded. The cloud with rain coming out of it and lightning means they are experiencing thunderstorms. The raincloud with the sun means there will be isolated showers but mostly sunny throughout the day.

Australia is experiencing rainy weather according to this map.
Australia actually has three different biomes; the savanna, the desert, and the tropical rainforests.

This site shows several different weather maps of South America. The temperature map goes from blue, all the way to red. Blue is the lowest temperature, while red is the highest. Most of South America is a light to dark orange, with some light blue and white areas in the mountains and towards the south tip. The percipitation map goes from blue to white, with white being a high percipitation. It is mostly blue, showing light percipitaion. South America's major biomes are deserts, grasslands, tropical rainforests, temperate rainforests, savannas, and chaparalls.

The weather on this map of Finland is showing lots of clouds and precipitation which makes sense because the country is very humid since it vastly borders the Baltic Sea. Clouds and rain are represented by icons and elevation is also represented in color variation. Finland's position in the 60th and 70th northern parallels gives it both humid maritime and drier continental climates that range from moderate to very cold. Finland is mostly coniferous forests and taiga.
